There is an intense game of mini stick hockey going on as I type this. Is it a Canadian thing that these boys instinctively know what to do? Lol
Today we are having homemade (still warm) cornbread with yummy mixed veggies. These little people are lovin it.
September brought a whole new kind of fun with the older kids going back to school. Our mornings and afternoons have added excitement when we go for a wagon ride back and forth to school. This is our wagon: Normally Nicholas insists on being pushed in his orange car. This makes us into quite the train of little ones. September also brought very odd weather. Very chilly in the morning but hot in the afternoon. Layering clothes or bringing a change of clothes became necessary. As I'm sure it will be in October. Handy clothing to have would include: slush pants, hats and thin mittens (for extra chilly mornings), sweaters, thin coats and appropriate outdoor footwear. If the ground is wet than it may not be the best idea to wear cotton sneakers.... My rules for going outside are the same as what they follow in schools. As long as it is not too hot, to cold or currently raining than we go outside twice a day. This is where bringing appropriate outdoor clothing becomes very important. We don't want little ones having wet feet or getting too cold or hot, or unfortunately having to stay inside because someone didn't bring appropriate outdoor clothing. Cold and flu season is also upon us. Even though most of my daycare kids are under 2 I have begun to get them into the habit of washing their hands after coming inside and before/after lunch. They find this part of the day particularly amusing as it parallels water play. Here are some September photos from Little Lambs. I am looking forward to what October has to bring. Leaves falling, temperature dropping, Thanksgiving and of course Halloween!
let kids be kids, sincerely Kristina This client of mine will be moving back to Newfoundland soon to embark a new and wonderful journey. I asked if she would mind writing a "little something" for my daycare website and this is what she wrote.
Thank you very much KB "My son Benjamin, started at Kristina's Little Lamb's Home Daycare in November 2012 and I couldn't be happier. He was 9 months old at the time and as a first time Mom I was extremely anxious about having to find a daycare; being new to the area added to that. Thankfully I had found Kristina through her website. She's an amazing mother to her two children and she treats my son as if he were one of her own. Kristina is very involved and takes part in their play and daily activities, which vary from day to day. She doesn't just sit back and supervise. They often go to the library for play group, or out in their backyard. The children have access to all of the house, and are not confined to a specific room. My son absolutely loves going there and always has a smile on his face when I drop him off and pick him up for the day. Kristina is very nutrition oriented. The snacks/meals provided are top of the line for nutrition and she serves a variety of foods every day. All in all I am beyond ecstatic that I managed to find her as a daycare provider. She is amazing beyond words." ~KB This week we are exploring "things that go fast". Whether it's cars or dogs it's sure to be an adventure. The idea is the children decide what fast means to them. Who/what moves fast? How does it do it? Where are these objects/living things fast? School is quickly approaching so this will also be a week filled with routine and preschool fun.
